Murder Mystery Dinner Train Stats

In The Beginning

In November 1987, Seminole Gulf Railway (SGLR) acquired 118 miles of CSX track between North Naples and Arcadia, as well as between Oneco and Venice. This significant acquisition marked the beginning of a new era for the freight railroad serving Souithwest Florida, positioning SGLR as a key player in Florida's transportation landscape. Today, the railway hauls much of the region's LP gas, building materials, plastics, aggregates, recycled materials, steel, and other commodities, contributing significantly to the regional economy.

Beyond traditional rail freight transportation, Seminole Gulf Railway diversified its services to meet the evolving needs of the region. The company offers comprehensive supply chain solutions, including regional trucking and logistical services. In 1988, the railroad owners acquired Florida Freezer and began operating a cold storage warehouse in North Fort Myers, FL.  That business now also has a facility in Miami, FL connecting the food supply chain around the world. Other business, including flatbed and refrigerated trucking, followed in the 1990s, reaffirming SGLR's commitment to Southwest Florida our nation's economy.

Launch of the Dinner Train and a Unique Dining Experience

In January of 1991, Seminole Gulf Railway embarked on an exciting new venture: The Dinner Train. This innovative concept combined fine dining with the classic appeal of rail travel, offering a unique experience to passengers. The addition of a theatrical element soon followed, with the debut of the first Murder Mystery production, "Murder on the Seminole Express." This production was an instant success, captivating audiences with its blend of suspense, drama, and humor.  The railroad offered other types of dinner train trips during the early decades, but the murder mysteries were the favorite, so much so that in 2010, the railroad official branded its dinner train, the Murder Mystery Dinner Train (and we have not looked back).
