Winter in Southwest Florida signals a time to get out and explore the more touristy parts of town. There are tons of fun annual events that are perfect for the whole family. Take advantage of all Fort Myers has to offer during this festive season by visiting one (or all!) of these attractions!
Edison and Ford Winter Estates
The first stop on our list is Edison and Ford Winter Estates. This historical site offers a range of activities to get you in the holiday spirit. For example, take a Candlelight Tour of the houses which are decorated with hundreds of lights and festive décor. Or, try your hand at making a traditional holiday craft. The kids will love getting their picture taken with Santa or writing a letter to him in the on-site post office.
Take a step back in time this holiday season by strolling through the decorated Edison & Ford Winter Estates. The white picket fences surrounding the property are lined with greenery and lights, while the trees inside twinkle with colorful ornaments. You can even peek into windows and open doors to see how Christmas was celebrated in past centuries.
Fort Myers Beach Christmas Boat Parade
Estero Bay's parade of boats is a magnificent sight that you can enjoy from one of the many bars and restaurants lining the route. To get a grandstand seat at Nervous Nellies, Parrot Key Grill, Doc Fords, Bonita Bills, Shrimp Dock, or Matanzas on the Bay book early!
Up to 30 beautifully lit boats will sail from Salty Sam's Marina along Matanzas Pass and into the first two canals of Siesta Isles during the 30th Annual Fort Myers Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The event is expected to last around two hours.
Fort Myers Festival of Trees
The Festival of Trees is a two-day event that features live entertainment, a visit from Santa, raffles, and of course, beautifully decorated trees. This year’s event will take place on December 14th and 15th at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
Annual Holiday House at Burroughs Home and Gardens
This year marks the 41st anniversary of the Holiday House at Burroughs Home & Gardens. The historic downtown home will be decked out in Victorian holiday style with live music and refreshments. Visitors can also take a tour of the decorated gardens. The event takes place on December 14th from 6 pm to 9 pm and December 15th from 1 pm to 4 pm.
