Top activities for Fourth of July weekend in Fort Myers

Your Fourth of July spent in Southwest Florida will be filled with fun and, of course, fireworks. With the Fourth falling on a Sunday this year, most will make a long weekend out of it. If you're planning to spend the holiday weekend in the Fort Myers area, consider these fun, family-friendly activities.

Fort Myers Beach Independence Day Parade

Festivities kick off with a 10 a.m. parade up Estero Blvd. The parade starts on Fort Myers Beach and finishes in Times Square. You'll see big trucks, costumes, and colorful floats. You can expect fun for the whole family.

After the parade has come to a close, explore the Times Square area and walk along the beach. You'll find there are lots of fun-filled things to do.

Fireworks on Fort Myers Beach

Sit and watch the beautiful sunset from Fort Myers Beach. 15 minutes later, one of the region’s most extravagant fireworks shows shoots will shoot off from the Fishing Pier. The firework show is definitely the main event, but there are also tons of great restaurants and lounges to visit as well. Lots of nearby places will step up the festivities with live music and different activities in the Times Square area. There will be things to do all down the length of the beach!

Mighty Muscles Baseball

You might want to celebrate America's birthday with its favorite pastime. The Mighty Muscles are a minor league baseball team of the Minnesota Twins local to Fort Myers. Following the game, the Mighty Muscles will even host their very own fireworks show–price included in your tickets!

USA Independence Day 5k

The central location of Hertz Arena is a perfect atmosphere for Southwest Florida residents and vacationers to join together for an Independence Day morning 5k. Don't worry if running isn't your thing–it's a run and/or walk.

Located between Fort Myers and Naples, this destination is a great race for you to converge with all of your friends and family in Southwest Florida–and get some great exercise! This family-friendly race is professionally chip-timed and features dry-fit tech shirts, finisher medals for all, and an atmosphere that will jump-start your fourth of July celebration.

Escape the Heat

If most of the activities on your itinerary take place outdoors, you might want an excuse to escape the heat. Look no further than Fort Myers' very own Murder Mystery Dinner Train. Family-fun meets elegance meets murder—what could be better!

On this 40-mile route beginning and ending at Colonial Station in Fort Myers, treat yourselves to a fancy meal on an air-conditioned train while you put your heads together to solve the murder mystery unfolding before you. You’re given clues to decipher and uncover in hopes of discovering the guilty party.

Mystery shows are updated and changed often to keep repeat customers guessing, and they house special holiday events too! There are tons of performances happening the week of the Fourth (however, they are closed on the 4th). View the full schedule and plan your unforgettable Fourth of July vacation!
